Reese Witherspoon Does Something Illegal and Ticks Off PETA?
But she’s America’s Sweetheart! The actress was photographed carrying an illegal $3,280 Python Chloe purse around LA. PETA, who expends a lot of energy chastising celebrities, sent Reese a letter asking her to retire the snakeskin purse.

The bag is illegal because California banned the sale of snakeskin in 1970.  Despite this, the bag is still being sold on Net-A-Porter and is called the Paraty handbag and is covered in leather and Python skin.

PETA sent her a video that was actually voiced over by her former “Walk The Line” co-star Joaquin Phoenix. The video relays the horror of what reptiles go through to be turned into handbags and since it’s being lectured to her by her former friend that probably made her feel really guilty. her purse was made with real snake skin and she immediately promised to never carry the purse again.
Victoria Beckham Fires Back at PETA
Victoria Beckham's camp is firing back at the angry folks over at PETA over her new handbag collection.

PETA was pissed off at VB for featuring handbags made from crocodile and lizard skin, as well as calf leather.

Victoria Risks Being Covered In Animal Blood

But a spokeswoman for Victoria has brushed off the criticism, insisting the accessories adhere to strict guidelines in the production process.

The rep says, "Everyone is entitled to personal opinion and choice, but as with all Victoria Beckham products, the handbags are made to the highest quality and design. These skins sit strictly within the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) regulations, and are monitored at every step of production. The skins are farmed in America under very tight guidelines."

While we agree no animal should die for a handbag, it's not like Victoria is the first person to do it. PETA just loves to target celebrities because it's instant press for them.

PETA Calls Kanye a Pathetic Creature
PETA isn’t a big fan of Kanye West. Or his girlfriend for that matter. The animal rights organization slammed the rapper and his lady friend after photos were snapped of them donning head-to-toe fur.

Kanye and Amber Rose both wore fur coats during Paris Menswear Fashion Week last week, spurring PETA to post a picture of them on their blog with a quote from Kanye’s track “All Falls Down.” It read: / For the road to riches and diamond rings … We’ll buy a lot of clothes, but we don’t really need ’em/ Things we buy to cover up what’s inside.”

The post read: “West apparently lives by his lyrics. The ethical dropout—who horrified voters in PETA’s Worst-Dressed Celebrity competition last year—and his sleazy sidekick, Amber Rose, were snapped by paparazzi strutting around Paris in ‘the ugliest things’ indeed. Both were wearing head-to-toe fur, and Amber refused to remove her full-length lynx coat during a show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week.”

PETA Vice President Dan Mathews added, “Kanye can’t help making himself look like an idiot, whether at an awards show or a fashion show. He and his girlfriend look like pathetic creatures from a shabby roadside zoo.”

Click hereto see the picture that enraged PETA. Do you agree with them that wearing fur is cruel and irresponsible?
Michelle Obama Refuses to Wear Fur
Michelle Obama has just sworn off fur! The first lady made the announcement just one day after French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy told PETA she doesn’t wear any fur.

Carla had recently come under fire by PETA for appearing to wear fur. She replied with a statement, saying, "I do not wear, buy or own fur or animal skin other than leather or skin of animals raised for feeding purposes. I am not a vegetarian, and I don't find it illogical to wear skins of animals whose meat is also eaten. I would gladly consider giving away sable, fox and other fur coats -- if I owned any."

Michelle Obama’s press secretary replied with her own statement today to avoid being targeted by PETA, saying, "Mrs. Obama does not wear fur.”

PETA said, "For Michelle Obama, respecting animals is obviously part of the social progress that she and her husband are working so hard to promote. By officially rejecting fur, these two style icons will make people everywhere see fur for what it is: old-fashioned and cruel."

PETA has their eyes peeled for anyone in the public eye who wears fur these days! That business must be hurting without all the celebrities endorsements!
Pink Slams Fur-Loving Kanye West
The latest celebrity fued is between Pink and Kanye West. In a recent interview with FHM magazine, Pink went off about him, saying, "Kanye West is the person p***ing me off right now.”

Pink recalled an incident at Stella McCartney’s Paris fashion show, a which she and Kanye were both guests, along with Paul McCartney and the Vice President of PETA.

Pink told FHM, "The entire time Kanye is going, 'They need more fur in this show'. He just wouldn't shut up about how he loved fur. I mean, he's saying this to me, the PETA guy and Paul McCartney!”

"I was just so grossed out by him. I'm like, 'You're an idiot!' There are so many people who I think are a waste of skin and he's up there. I should wear him. Go on, donate yourself Kanye. People can wear your fur."

Whoa! Pipe down Hannibal Lecter! That’s a pretty intense statement to make about someone! We whole-heartedly agree that Kanye shouldn’t have been talking about the need for more fur while sitting next to the PETA VP, but Pink took the insults to the next level there.

We’re expecting an angry caps-locked rebuttal blog any minute now from Kanye.
Madonna Named 'Worst Dressed' By PETA
The masses have spoken! PETA's "Worst Dressed" Celebrities of 2009 have been selected, and this year's biggest fur offender is the queen of Pop--Madonna!

Here's a breakdown of the top 5 PETA offenders with commentary:

Madonna:
When you see Madonna in fur, you realize why nobody has copied her style since 1984. We know that she's on the prowl for a young cub, but someone needs to tell Madge that wearing fur doesn't make you a cougar.

Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen:
Since fur adds 20 years and 20 pounds, maybe Mary Kate and Ashley think their matronly wardrobe will deflect the gossip about bulimia. Somewhere, someone is missing a matching pair of Bigfoot bobble head dolls.

Maggie Gyllenhaal:
Maggot has gone from being lost in her brother's shadow to being lost inside some really ugly fur coats. Where is her fashion sense? Maybe Christian Bale dropped her on her head during an action sequence in The Dark Knight.

Kanye West:
Kanye rants about not winning Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards, but what he really deserves is a "lifetime bereavement award" for all of the corpses in his closet. Kanye, we love the quirky suits, but you can't claim to be "the voice of this generation" while flaunting fur, which is old school and cruel.

Elizabeth Hurley:
Elizabeth Wholey? Instead of flaunting the remains of animals, this faded siren might focus on the remains of her career. She made us want to hurley when we saw her pimping for furriers in those desperate ads.

Beyonce and PETA Kiss and Make Up
PETA and Beyonce have finally kissed and made up after a long cold war. PETA agreed to get off Beyonce's ass after they learned that she's given up fur for good. They even sent her a fake fur throw as a wedding present.

The accompanying note reads, "From all of us at PETA, we wish you much happiness in your life together. Please accept this faux-fur throw with many good wishes and a hope from us that together, you'll be a fur-free couple!"

PETA Vice President Lisa Lange says, "Celebrities know that the easiest way to keep PETA off their backs is by keeping fur off their backs. Time will tell if Beyonce is truly committed to being fur-free, but all indications are that she's become a real 'dreamgirl' for fur-bearing animals."
PETA To Aretha: Fur or Home

PETA's been after Aretha Franklin for months now trying to get her to ditch her famous fur coats.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has written to Franklin offering to pay off her back taxes in exchange for her turning in her collection of furs.

In a letter to the diva, Newkirk writes, "We would like to help you out by paying the approximately $19,000 in back taxes that you owe - if you'll agree to save animals from hideous suffering and death by promising never to wear fur again and donating your old furs to PETA.

"We are absolutely sincere in making this offer - we believe that you know in your heart that your fans will love you even more if you make a fur-free resolution.

"As you no doubt now realize, animals who are trapped in the wild can suffer for days before dying from exposure, frostbite, shock, or infection or by being strangled, stomped, or bludgeoned to death by trappers." The PETA president concludes by writing, "Our offer is a win-win situation: You get to keep your home, and animals get to keep their lives . We are rooting for you to please give animals the R-E-S-P-E-C-T that they deserve by giving up fur."
PETA Goes After Aretha Franklin

PETA has a new target, and it’s a big one! The suits at PETA are attacking Aretha Franklin for her love of fur coats.

In an open letter to Aretha, PETA rep Dan Matthews writes, "Music lovers may think of you as a 'queen,' but to animal lovers, you are a court jester...

"Why not shed the old-fashioned look that adds pounds to your frame and detracts from your beautiful voice? Please consider donating your furs to the homeless as 'queen of compassion,' Mariah Carey, did. You'll get a tax credit for the donation, and we at PETA will all sing your praises."

Ouch!
PETA Defends Kimora

The people at PETA are damn picky! They either love you or hate you. The peeps at PETA are defending Kimora Lee Simmons even though she still uses fur in her collection. Why is it ok for Kimora and not the Olsens?

She says, "You cannot just chain up an animal. It's cruel. Dogs need to run and play."

Kimora is still getting heat for using rabbit fur in her collection, but not from PETA.

A spokesperson tells the New York Daily News, "Baby Phat is working at phasing out real fur."

Surrrreeee!
