Christian Louboutin\'s Muse is Princess Diana
The famed shoe designer, Christian Louboutin says his most famous celebrity muse is Princess Diana. Wait, so it’s NOT Blake Lively?

Louboutin remembers his first pair of shoes he ever designed for his brand, he calls them the Love style and that they were inspired by Diana herself.

“It was 1992 and I was looking at this picture of Princess Diana taken while her husband was giving a speech. She looked so sad and bored, I thought: ‘What would bring a smile to her face?” remembers Louboutin.

That sad face gave him the idea for the cleavage peep-toe shoes that expose the tops of a woman’s toes.

“It was Diana dancing with John Travolta who inspired me,” he explained, “She was wearing these really bad English shoes and they showed half her toes. It looked tacky, but so good somehow. She had the naughtiness and it was appearing subconsciously.”

While we’re learning secrets about the famed shoe-empire, Louboutin says he created the famous quilted leather ballerina heel for Chanel when worked freelance for the brand in the 80’s.

“Everyone thinks it’s part of Coco’s DNA, that show, but it hadn’t been done before I got there,” says Louboutin.
