CFDA Fashion Awards Wrap-Up
Fashion’s top designers, models, celebrities and fans showed up to the annual fashion fete in New York City last night. The 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards may have honored the Olsen twins with their contributions to womenswear fashion, but here’s who was winning on the red carpet.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen: Wearing nearly identical dresses from their own collection The Row, the girls were set apart by their hair color as Mary-Kate debuted new brunette strands. MK wore a long sleeved black silk dress with a high-low hem. Ashley wore a violet silk dress with a simple oversized ruffle down the front.

Dakota Fanning: The young actress rocked a long-sleeved kimono-inspired dress from Proenza Schouler. The dress was very edgy, marking a new look for Dakota.

Jessica Chastain: Ahhh! Is Chastain not famous enough to get better dresses, because these sheer metallic dress from Prabal Gurung was so so bad! The sheer overlay was like little Red Riding hood meets some little girls bat mitzvah dress.

Kate Bosworth: There’s a lot going on here. Wearing a heavily embellished Joseph Altuzarra dress, it featured a collar, a side cutout, beading on the hip, a ruffled skirt and a leg slit. Yeah, try and process all that.

Mandy Moore: Mandy Moore has apparently emerged from wherever she’s been hiding in a white draped Lela Rose gown with embellished cap-sleeves. My favorite part of her look was her hot pink lip color, it made the otherwise matronly dress appear youthful.

Lily Collins: Lily Collins wore a white-and-gold embroidered brocade dress with flare skirt from Marchesa. It looks a little bit like a figure skaters dress, but it’s also fun and flirty and perfect for a young actress like Lily.

Zoe Saldana: Zoe Saldana has a hard time on the red carpet, she’s got runway model proportions but something is always “off” with her. She wore a slinky black gown from Prabal Gurung and it’s kind of beautiful but there’s also so many sheer cutouts that Zoe looks like a fit model in an unfinished gown.

Julianne Hough: Who invited Julianne Hough to the CFDA awards? Whatever. She rocked a Kaufmanfranco Chinese red stretch-crepe gown with a plunging neckline.

Solange Knowles: Slowly creeping her way into the fashion scene, Solange wore a bright white-and-yellow Marni dress. At first glance, this looked like a knit dress, but the yellow detailing is actually made of large yellow paillettes.
