Rihanna to Release Her Debut Fashion Line

I was wondering when this was going to happen. Rihanna has been too famous for too long not to have her own clothing range, lifestyle collection and several celebrity fragrances under her belt. I mean, she promotes Vita Coco water, but that’s just not the same.

Rihanna will release a capsule collection for Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans. She’s already the face and body and current spokesperson for the brand, so it only makes sense that her first foray into fashion is in a collaboration with Armani.

Her clothing range will consist of denim and lingerie featuring her R logo against Armani’s logo. The collection will have biker jackets, backpacks, skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans, t-shirts with Rihanna’s face on it, and also lace underwear in navy blue and grey. The whole style is very biker chic meets Rihanna-on-a-lazy-Sunday.

At least now when us regular women try to “dress like Rihanna” we can actually do it with brand-sanctioned clothes and won’t look like crazies anymore. Now I can say, “I know I looked ridiculous when I wore rhinestone briefs and a red wig, but this is Armani, so don’t judge. By the way, I look like Rihanna right?”

Several of the pieces and sketches have been leaked online and the limited edition pieces should be hitting stores any day now. Surprisingly the collection is very "covered up" for Rihanna standards, that is. After Rihanna’s Kadooment Day outfit I thought she had hired an aging Vegas show-girl as her new stylist, but her Armani range is surprisingly modest and little bit butch, but in the Rihanna way of being butch that is still ultra fabulous.

Recently Rihanna talked about the various fashion influences that might make it’s way into her collection, “I probably see a lot of menswear, or something extremely, extremely feminine. But I like to play with both. It would have to be so extreme that it's a look, because I don't usually like typical ladylike, girly-girly stuff. It would be a look if I were to do it. I always like something that's a little off, so it's just not typical or expected."

When it was announced that Rihanna was first to become the face of Armani, the brand released this statement.
