Step aside, Kate: Princess Charlize Charlene of Monaco is our new royal sartorial obsession. At the 2012 Ballo del Giglio in Florence, she wore a pleated georgette Gucci gown from the Fall 2012 collection, a gorgeous emerald embellished floral belt and a beaded Gucci clutch.

Charlene isn't your typical princess, either: born in Zimbabwe, she was an Olympic swimmer and competed on the South African team in 2000. At a swimming event in Monaco, she met Prince Albert II of Monaco, who is the son of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III (I imagine this 'swimming event' involved canapes and diamond accented goggles, if there were princes just running around).

They've been married since July of last year. Prince Albert has two royally illegitimate children (one, Jazmin Grace, by a California woman, the other, Alexandre Coste by a flight attendant), and he's one of a few possible inspirations for The Princess Diaries.

Charlene, on the other hand, seems to have a better handle on how to conduct herself in a royal manner than her husband.

She's an incredibly classy dresser and favors a sophisticated updo (like the one she sports here). Albert, on the other hand, is mostly bald and could not look more like your friend's creepy Uncle Chris (the one who's at every barbecue, asking you about your life goals and your craziest college parties) if he tried. So much for Prince Charming.
