It’s weird seeing a Valentino collection unveiled without the man with the dark tan, Valentino Garavani. Since his retirement, this was the first show set out on stage. Designer Alessandra Facchinetti unveiled the Valentino Fall 08 collection in Paris with new twists and turns.
"I think the things Valentino created were timeless," she said. "I wanted to take something from the cleanliness of the sixties structure, but at the same time make things soft and light. But there is nothing too obvious."
Some trends featured in the collection included deep folds on the sleeves, skirts and dresses with petaled necklines and abstract garlands of 3-D flowers. It’s a good start for the young Italian designer, but she definitely has some big shoes to fill.
