Valentino Fall/Winter 2013 Collection

What's not to love about Valentino? With every model that stepped out on to the Parisian runway for Valentino Fall/Winter 2013, it was like turning the fabled pages of a familiar storybook from your childhood.

The charming collection told this season's tale through long-sleeve mini dresses with lace collars, draped capes, and textured florals. But it wasn't all daydreaming in rose gardens for the seemingly innocent collection, which at the quarter mark, showed a more grown-up side with a series of pleasing column dresses, intricate lace embroidery, and of course, a bold red moment.

As with all Valentino shows, the most anticipated pieces were its beautiful ball gowns, which were in no short supply. Their extra-ethereal nature came across with one dress in particular where the collection's Johannes Vermeer-inspired touches came across most clearly—a sheer gauzy fabric that looked to have been sponge painted with watercolors. If the "Girl with a Pearl Earring" were looking to complement her famous accessory, this collection had enough pieces for her to try.

In the final walk-off, it's safe to say that when you're wearing Valentino you're most likely walking towards your own happily ever after.
