Donatella Versace: I\'d Like To Put The Queen In Black
Donatella Versace may look like a walking slim jim, but the woman actually has a lot of intelligent babble to say about fashion.

The empress of the Versace empire sat down for an interview at Oxford University in the UK and got into the hard topics right away, like, getting Queen Elizabeth out of the poufy gowns and into some Versace!

“If I could dress anyone I’d like to dress the Queen – she can handle anything,” says Donatella, “I’d put her in black – she never wears black – and add a little leather, maybe. A little rock ‘n’ roll.”

Donatella also talks her brother’s tragic 1997 murder and how the luxury fashion house's style has evolved since then.

“But you also have to remember that it was the end of the Nineties. For a while since then we all moved away from the bling we were famous for – it was too sexy, not in line with the general mood – but now, certainly in 2012, it’s back; people are having fun with fashion again, so I had to find the courage to look at the past in a new perspective. Suddenly when I looked at his last collection, of 1997, I started not to be afraid anymore.”

Also, Donatella says don’t be fooled by her exterior. Underneath all that sun damage and leather mini dresses is a woman with a heart of gold, or something close to that.

“I think my own look makes people think I’m tough but when they get to know me I’m very different,” says Donatella, “It’s like armor that was useful to me in the first years after Gianni’s death.”
