Last night was the elaborate launch party for the Versace for H&M collection. The celeb studded event featured a runway collection and after-party that was way over-the-top for a retailer that sells clothes in malls next to food courts.

The collection is what Donatella Versace is describing as a “Versace greatest hits” including replica’s from the Versace archives. Most of the collection is bold and bright patterns that suggest the opulence of retro Versace.

All the stars came out for the event in New York including Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, Chace Crawford, Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish, Selma Blair, Chloe Moretz, Zachary Quinto, Uma Thurman, Zoe Kravitz and more. Even Oprah Winfrey was there. I can only assume she got lost on the way to a White House dinner.

Here’s some of what the stars were saying about the event and about Donatella Versace herself.

Emma Roberts tweeted, “Sitting next to the handsome @zacharyquinto at Versace for H&M. Lucky me!”

Jessica Alba wore Versace the first time she presented at the Oscars, “I went to Milan and went to Donatella’s house and saw the most amazing closet I’d ever seen in my entire life. She had just racks and racks of gorgeous gowns.”

New IT-girl of the moment Chloe Moretz tweeted, “I had an ammmazzinnng night. #DonatellaVersace and soo many people was great seeing @RobertsEmma and @jessicaalba :)” and also, “Meeting @NICKIMINAJ was amazing :0 I love her an her performance was to die for.” She then tweeted like four more emoticons, but she’s only 14, so you can’t blame her.

While Nicki Minaj was at the event to perform at the after-party, she gushed over Prince who also performed at the fashion fete.

Nicki tweeted, “Prince just shut new york city DOWNNNN WOW. Shouted me out while he was on stage and errrthang gworl!!!! #groupietweet.”

After the event, Donatella said, “it was the perfect evening, so glamorous and special. I loved celebrating the launch of Versace for H&M here in New York, an iconic city in which to showcase this iconic collection. Now I cannot wait for it to finally reach stores and be available to the world.” One of the highlights from the event was Mark Ronson in an neon pink suit from the Versace for H&M menswear range. Ke$ha showed up looking a lot like Donatella herself, wearing a leopard print jumpsuit and zero of her usual glitter.

In a promo for the collection, Donatella Versace is seen pulling the strings and controlling a mansion full of mannequin-esque models traipsing around the home in Versace for H&M designs. Donatella addresses the camera with “My house. My rules. My pleasure.”

Of the collection, Donatella says she knows the audience, “I know this customer. I know what they want. They follow music, fashion. For the new generation, it’s all pop culture.”

The collection goes on sale in the US on November 19th.
