Book Review: That Extra Half an Inch- Hair, Heels and Everything in Between by Victoria Beckham

Although it’s 377 pages- Victoria Beckham’s fashion book is a quick and good read. Most of the pages are covered with great personal pictures of her, David and the kids and artist renditions of fashion trends that she points out in each chapter.
In the book, Posh gives readers her tips on how to wear jeans, dresses, shoes and etc. That Extra Half an Inch also features sections not only about fashion pieces but also accessories, how to dress for different occasions/seasons such as for parties, vacations, winter, and also how to dress during pregnancy and during post pregnancy. Throughout each section, Victoria gives her own personal fashion advice on how to wear clothing and accessories with style. Also Posh gives us her quick British whit and humor along with each section -as most of us got to see on her Coming to America show on NBC. A couple of quotes from the book,
“As you all know, the crucial accessory for me is a good pair of sunglasses. If you ever wondered why I’m always wearing them it’s very simple: as a mum, I often don’t get that much sleep, I don’t always have time to put on the Touche Eclat in the mornings, and who can be bothered putting on eye shadow first thing in the day anyway? So instead, I just throw the Chanel sunglasses…This is why I often tend to go for the sunglasses with dark mirrored lenses” Victoria Beckham
“The absolute worst thing anyone can do with their jeans is to pull their g-string over the waistband. There was a period a few years ago when it seemed that everybody and their dog was being photographed falling out of Chinawhite with their g-string hoiked above their jeans. I don’t mind a bit of lingerie showing, like a pretty bra strap under a vest top, or maybe even a peek underneath a dress or shirt (very Dolce & Gabbana), but that is very different from bending over in Piccadilly Circus and showing your thong.”
Each chapter features a section entitled “from high end to high street” – giving readers all of the Posh places to make purchases like the Spice Girl (stores names include Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Fendi and…let’s just say I think you get the point). But also each chapter has a “where to buy section” which gives the names of places on where real fashionistas (with real budgets) can make like fashion purchases, but for a cheaper price (stores names include Urban Outfitters, H&M, Gap, and Quicksilver).
This book is a definite must for fashionistas who want to get the skinny (no pun intended) on Victoria, and her fashion sense. Read the book all the way through or plop it on your coffee table- just to let you visitors know that –you are a true fashion slave!
