Victoria Beckham: I Don't Follow Trends

Victoria Beckham covers i-D mag in a pageboy hat, some long brown extensions and sipping coffee from a straw. She reveals how she’s finally retired the skin-tight dress and why she doesn’t follow fashion but rather just designs what she feels.

Is Victoria and her love affair with skinny body hugging dresses finally over?

"When I started it was all about the corset dress,” reveals Beckham, “That’s what people associated me with, and possibly if I’m honest a sign of my own insecurities as well. But the older I get and the more comfortable I am in my own skin, the more I realize that to look great and feel great I haven’t always got to wear something tight.”

I mean, duh, hookers wear skin tight clothes and no-one has ever really called them “hot,” well except Richard Gere but that was just a dumb movie.

Beckham also reveals that not only has her style evolved but when she’s designing, she doesn’t even care about style, she just wears and designs what looks great when you wear it.

“I’ve stood on many a red carpet and been photographed from every angle, so I know how important it is for a dress to be flattering…I don’t follow fashion and I don’t follow trends, I just follow my instinct and think what do I want to wear? What am I feeling for next season?” Even though Beckham has swore off the “corset dress,” her photo shoot for the mag shoes the star in a series of corsets, leotards, and hot pants.
