Victoria Beckham will launch an exclusive dress collection on Net-A-Porter today. Victoria is describing the capsule collection as “chic, timeless and elegant” and much like all her designs will feature bold solid prints in simple, elegant, tailored silhouettes.

The collection features five dresses all priced at well over $1000 each.

“Victoria's designs continue to sell out with breath-taking speed, and so the time felt right to rework five of the best-selling silhouettes in the season's hottest shades," says a spokesperson for Net-A-Porter. "Her elegant, feminine designs have garnered a legion of fans and we are so excited to be able to offer our customers these fabulous dresses.”

The dresses are reminiscent of her Victoria Beckham collection and her cheaper more feminine Victoria by Victoria Beckham. So it’s the best and most popular pieces of both collections reworked for the special Net-A-Porter range.

Proving that her design career isn’t slowing down. Beckham is parlaying her mommy hood into a children’s clothing line as well. I’m sorry but do babies really need $1500 wool and silk shift dresses? They do not.

According to sources, Beckham has been sketching early designs for a “practical” childrens line and wants to get the clothes into production very soon.

“Now Victoria has a family of boys and girls she wants to reflect that in her fashion work and produce a line of clothes for children too,” says the source.

“In some of her down time with Harper Victoria has been jotting down drawings and coming up with ideas for kids' clothes that are practical but fun too.”

And by “fun” she means, “color blocking.” That’s about as fun as her designs are going to get. Don’t expect onesies with baby ducks on it.

David is really excited about the line too and Victoria can’t wait to get going on the project.'

If these sources are true and Beckham does do a baby line she would be following in the footsteps of other celeb-turned-baby clothing designers like Gwen Stefani and…well, that’s about it.

Gwen Stefani is set to launch her Harajuku Mini collection for Target later this month.

But does Victoria really need the Net-A-Porter and baby collection? According to someone close to the Victoria Beckham brand, her designer career has already brought in $24 million in sales just in the first quarter of 2011.

If she continues at this rate, she could be raking in $96 million from her brand since it’s inception in 2008.

At this rate, David Beckham can retire from soccer and pursue the career we’ve always wanted him to be: an underwear model.
