Victoria Beckham has been a busy lady. While she was pregnant with her fourth child, the first daughter for the Beckham brood, she was also busy working on her contemporary dress line, Victoria by Victoria Beckham.
These dresses, set to retail at the oh so affordable price range of $550 to $900 are cute 60’s inspired frilly and feminine dresses. Whether her pregnancy hormones and having a baby girl influenced the line, she tells Women’s Wear Daily, “One of my team said, ‘It would be funny if you found out you were having a girl,’ because this is the most girly collection I’ve ever created.”
The collection was inspired by the comic book character Emily the Strange, an edgy cat-loving teen with a chic sense of style. The retro dresses center on a loosened silhouette, “These are the kind of dresses I’ve been searching for,” says Beckham, who states that if it’s a dress she wouldn’t wear, it wont be included in the line.
Beckham describes trying to create a dress that was, “the perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through the night.”
These baby-dollish dresses will fit more than just skinny-girl body types, “I’m opening these designs to women and girls of all different shapes and sizes, people who maybe want something less tight and clingy and structured.” These dresses are no-fuss garments, “You can wear them with a pair of flats or a pair of heels and they look great.”
