Proving that the VS models are nearly beyond human, they strutted down the runway in the lingerie company's annual televised fashion show on CBS on Tuesday reminding us that no amount of cocoa butter or Pilates will get us looking like that after a pregnancy.
This years models with kids at home include Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima.
Adriana Lima’s daughter Valentina was born on November 15, 2009. Miranda Kerr gave birth to her son Flynn in January 2011. Doutzen Kroes gave birth so her son Phyllon on January 21, 2011 and Alessandra Ambrosio's daughter Anja was born on August 24, 2008.
Ed Razek, chief marketing office for Victoria's Secret parent company Limited Brand explains, "It's true, a number of our models have come back from having a baby more beautiful than ever. I know that some of them have used the show date as a goal to get back in shape and, I think, having a baby has given them a sense of confidence, an 'I can do anything' attitude that is reflected on the runway."
Miranda Kerr was one of the standout models in the runway show, wearing the coveted $2.5 million diamond bra this year, "I was asked to do it after I gave birth. That was awesome. It’s such an honor," says Kerr.
Kroes says it's hard for her to juggle her jet-setting modeling career with a 1-year-old son at home, "It's not a 9 to 5 job. I don't want him to become a 'traveler' when he is still so young." Kroes admits that she had to do many ab exercises to get ready for the show, but she says she's enjoying her post-baby body, "I wish every woman can feel so sexy after birth. It's your body, but it's also a feeling."
Ambrosio is slightly more experienced as a mom and says she enjoys doing the show as a mother, "Our bodies are changed as we get older, and I'm more conscious of it now. Now, I'm a woman doing the show, not a girl."
Lima says having a kid is the best thing to happen to her modeling career, "Physically, I feel more beautiful and think those pregnancy hormones were great for my skin and hair. As for me personally, I feel more secure and confident. I have more patience and am more open to people. It really changes the way you carry yourself and see the world."
Former VS angels that managed motherhood and a runway careers include the world highest paid supermodel Gisele Bundchen and also Project Runway host Heidi Klum.
